PUT THE WATER AND SUGAR IN A 2 QUART SAUCE PAN. PLACE OVER MEDIUM TO LOW HEAT

MAKE THE SUGAR MELT, COOK UNTIL THE WATER TURNS CLEAR. LET THE WATER AND SUGAR MIXTURE COOL COMPLETELY

WASH AND DRY THE CHERRIES. CUT THE STEMS AT ABOUT 1/4 OF AN INCH

PLACE THE CHERRIES IN AN AIR TIGHT CONTAINER OR JARS AND COVER THE CHERRIES COMPLETELY WITH THE LIQUOR MIXTURE. SEAL AND PUT THE CHERRIE JARS IN A DARK PLACE FOR TWO TO THREE MONTHS. SHAKE THEM OCCASIONALLY. ONCE THE JARS ARE OPEN, KEEP REFRIGERATED.

THE CHERRIES WILL LOSE THEIR COLOR, BUT THE FLAVOR WILL BE DELICIOUS!! I PERSONALLY LOVE THEM MADE WITH RUM OR COGNAC, BUT USE WHICHEVER LIQUOR YOU PREFER, THEY WILL BE EXTRAORDINARY! YOU CAN HAVE THEM PLAIN, WITH ICE CREAM, WHIPPED CREAM, WITH A COCKTAIL OR HOWEVER YOU PREFER! THEY ARE WORTH THE WAIT. ENJOY!!
